I wonder how many of us have this attitude anymore? It seems as if for the great majority of us, God is not the all-in-all who must be found or die. He is just another of the many “things” in our lives.
And I, of all people, am the worst among men in this.

Edward, I don’t think this is something that can be done out of duty. I think there is a moment when you hear a call. MacDonald is telling us what that feels like.
