Following along while listening to the St. John Passion this evening at Mass, I suddenly thought I know nothing – or somehow fail to recall anything? – about Patristic commentary on “sitio” (Greek ‘dipso’). St. John 4:34 came to mind, though there it is “cibus” (Greek ‘broma’).

And, today’s sermon gave attention to St. John chapter 4 much to this point! – but I did not have the opportunity to ask if there were Patristic examples of making that connection…

Where is the window used for the illustration? Breathtaking.

Dana, the artist is Harry Clarke, perhaps Ireland’s greatest stained glass artist. This work is called “Mother of Sorrows” and is found in the National Gallery of Ireland.

It reminded me, as far as the figures, of the work of Jan Toorop. Is there a distinct ‘Art Noveau’ iconography which both exhibit?
