St Basil Redux

In case you inexplicably missed my blog articles on four of St Basil’s trinitarian homilies, I suggest that you really do want to read them now. Close your eyes and listen to the quiet drone of my voice. You want to learn more about St Basil’s teaching on the Holy Trinity. Repeat over and over again: St Basil is the man. Aren’t you starting to feel embarrassed that you haven’t read those articles. They are right at your fingertips. Read them.

1) “Homily on Faith.”

2) “Homily on the Beginning of the Gospel of John.”

3) “Homily on Not Three Gods.”

4) “Homily Against the Sabellians, Anomoians, and Pneumatomachians.”

Hopefully these articles will encourage you to start reading the primary texts, just as I am. The Church Fathers are often more accessible than their modern-day expositors. Avail yourself now of the opportunity to cultivate a patristic Mind.

But if nothing else works, I will just have to resort to violence. Remember the old National Lampoon cover:

Read my articles on St Basil … or the poor dog will die.
